“London 2012 is relying on brilliant Games Makers to help us deliver a great Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
Seb Coe, LOCOG Chair
London 2012 is less than two years away, and this week the application process for Games Makers officially opened- a naionwide call out for enthusiastic people who want to be part of the ‘greatest show on earth’. There are 31 ‘teams’ looking for Games Makers in a wide variety of roles- to help out in all areas, from torch relays to transport. Here Eddie Izzard (who is no stranger to a challenge, having completed 43 marathons in 51 days!) explains what being a Games Maker is all about in this short video:
As Eddie suggests London 2012 without Games Makers simply would not happen. London needs people from all walks of life, who will be able to take on ten days of hard (but once in a lifetime!) work, who have the same values and passions as the Olympics. Want to find out more? You can read all about what helping out with the Games involves on the Official Games Maker page. Completely convinced? You can apply over on the London 2012 site here.
If you fancy watching some of the games as well as helping out you can now register your interest in tickets here. Good luck!
Decided to apply? We would love to hear your story and why you’ve decided to go for it. Either leave a comment below or send us a tweet over on @Go_London.
